Outcome Versus Income

We live in a world that is driven on money, that we chase to satisfy the ingrained ideas of our modern-day idea of success. The progression through this life on this planet has indentured us into a pathway of work, eat, consume, and die. One of the greatest quotes that I have seen to explain this is the following: Normal is getting dressed in clothes that you buy for work and driving through traffic in a car that you are still paying for, in order to get to the job you need to pay for the clothes and the car, and the house you leave vacant all day so you can afford to live in it. Why then do we link our value to having more and more things, more money, more wealth, to impress those around us? The sad part of that equation is that most are trying to impress people that we have never met and probably do not like. I am not in any way downsizing the idea of having nice things, and having great wealth, I am just insinuating that maybe we are placing too much of our individual value and success on earthly things. When we are born, and when we die, physical and monetary things are meaningless. What then is money and physical things that we spend most of our lives chasing? I believe that money is simply energy that we use to trade for other things that are energetic. We use this money energy in trade for food, physical things, and services; that time we “spend” to accumulate this money energy, is an energy as well. Additionally, time and energy must also be the same, or similar in nature based on our knowledge of our known universe properties. Time is money, money is time – it would be very difficult to change this correlation.

Truly the question is, how are we really spending our time? Are we using our time just to chase an elusive dream of success and wealth, or are we spending our time chasing our true passions and our purpose? If you are doing what you love to do, then it does not feel like a job; however, if you are engaging in a job that you dislike, then it feels very laborious and unsatisfying. Many of us just endure our 8-hour day to simply pay our bills and have some free time on the weekends. Tell me, what kind of life is that? Is that truly living, or is that simply surviving? I would never discount someone for enduring work and a job to provide for their families, however, there must be more to life than that! Our modern-day life has pushed into great debt and servitude to the credit-based system, that will keep us on the hamster wheel all our lives if we are not careful. We have all been taught that time management is important because time is money. Perhaps we should begin to look at our day in an “energy management” way; after all, we all have the same amount of energy each day just like we do time. If we do not budget our energy properly, it does not matter how much time we have to spend; quality time is much more important than time spent on useless and careless tasks. Perhaps if we paid more attention to what we are spending our energy on, we may find that we are chasing squirrels around and getting no where fast. Then we can begin to look more at the outcomes we want, what we want out of our lives, instead of how much money we want to make. All the successful people that I have researched have all said, if you do what you love with passion, the money will follow.

The next time you find yourself spending time on something, step back and analyze what you are doing, and make an informed decision on whether you absolutely need to spend your energy on that activity. I am just as guilty as anyone else when it comes to spending energy unwisely, after all, we are all human. I feel like the biggest waste of our energy is on those uninvited feelings that show up, the feelings that we just cannot quit mulling over in our minds. Feelings are important, but we need to figure out how to express and work through these feelings, so that they do not linger long enough to become a hardwired perception. We also need to take a long hard look at what truly brings us joy in this life. I believe that this is also where we as humans are faltering, we usually have no clue what we want. I can tell you with absolute truth, if you do not know where you are going, you may not like where you end up.

Believe in yourself and start moving forward with your life i stead of marching in place. Make a new path instead of going down the same path as everyone else, because we know where those worn out paths lead. Solidify what you want, chase what you want, take chances, take risks, put your whole mind and soul into your goals, chase outcomes, and do not chase income. Let us face it – the only way to make changes, is to make changes – nothing changes until you do!
